the beauty
is in the
duality

I was led to believe that having a 9-5 as an Artist was the ULTIMATE dream life. But I had found myself exactly in that, and hated every minute of it.

SO - I began freelancing on the side for fun (literally, I needed an escape from the Tractor paint labels I was designing in my 9-5) and within a few months I was making MORE in my freelance projects than I was in my corporate, “perfect” job.

But more importantly, I was choosing to work on projects that I found interesting. I was creating for… myself? (*gasp*)

I was playing with new tools.
Creating new styles.
I was being a true ARTIST.
I also became an accidental entrepreneur.

Wolves & Roses Creative was born after a few years of freelancing, when I realized I wanted something that stood for what my process was based on – Duality.

Wolves are seen as dangerous, loners… but they’re pack animals who take care of each other first and foremost. What we see, is not what they are.

Roses are the ultimate Romance standard. Beautiful, timeless, but they’re born with thorns… What we see, is not what they are.

The most successful brands (in my eyes) play off this concept of duality. Telling a story of why and who they are, not just presenting a pretty face.

I can still remember winning the 7th grade Art Show like it was yesterday. (I drew a unicorn surrounded by roses, very on brand -- I know.)

Creating was easy for me. Being a very shy, timid kid led me to believe that Art was a way to show I was worthy -- of friendship, of praise, whatever. (Don’t worry, we outgrew this, lol.) In this unsettling mindset, I did gain a very valuable asset -- reading energy and people.

I began to study the way people described things. The way their faces lit up when they enjoyed something or the slight frown when they disliked it. To say the least, I became VERY GOOD at “reading the room.”

This mindset took me through school, where I continued creating mostly for others, or to prove I was GOOD at something.

I graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and Marketing.

Now, this is where the story starts getting good...
